Gum Disease Linked With Heart Disease & Stroke

For several years now, studies at well-known research universities including Boston and Harvard, have shown an apparent connection between gum disease, heart disease and stroke. This data shows that  people with gum disease generally have higher rates of these more serious and often deadly problems.

One reason is that the inflamed gums contain bacteria that get into the bloodstream and invade or cause inflammation in other areas of the body such as the brain and heart arteries. This is definitely NOT a recipe for health and longevity.

So, what’s one good defense for preventing these more serious conditions? You should brush and floss daily, make sure your dentist performs a complete periodontal examination and follow through with any needed treatment. It really helps your whole body stay healthier!
